Of Mice and Men, the novel set during the Great Depression by the American writer John Steinbeck, is about the American dreams and hardship of two undefined immigrants: George Milton and Lennie Small. Timespan of the narrative take place in the Salinas Valley in California with George being the practical and clever one while Lennie being a big child in terms of character who wants to belong to a family with George starting a dream that they will have their own land one day. However, as they try to settle into the rather difficult life of gypsy work, their hopes are dragged into the realities of existence. Friendships and loneliness and all sorts of belonging are poignantly depicted through Steinbeck's prose as well as through his character's eyes in the novella Making Of Mice And Men a novel about human weakness and hope in an intriguing way.
